Bandar Seri Begawan - The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam wishes to caution members of the Filipino Community to be wary of individuals claiming to represent the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and possibly offering their services in securing reinsurance contracts.
A scam was recently uncovered in Great Britain and Australia, where individuals were offering such services without authority from the GSIS.
Upon verification with the GSIS, it was found that the reinsurance contracts/claims are fraudulent and the persons invoked were either retired or not even connected with the GSIS.
The GSIS would assume no responsibility to compensate or indemnify any party for any contract or agreement involving/entered into with such individuals.
Members of the Filipino Community may report such individuals to the Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam through telephone number (hotline 871-4881), fax (223-7707), or e-mail (bruneipe@brunet.bn and bruneipe@dfa.gov.ph). --- Source: Philippine Embassy
